For Hip Hop — SHIRA JACKSON began dancing on the Wyoming High School dance team, learning the basics of Hip Hop and Jazz. Her dance training continued locally at the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. As her desire to become a better dancer grew, Jackson honed her Hip Hop dancing skills by taking classes at a myriad of dance studios throughout Cincinnati and Chicago, including Contemporary Dance Theater and Lou Conte Dance Studio. At that time she also began teaching Hip Hop and Jazz in Cincinnati, including at Contemporary Dance Theater. She then moved to New York City, where she did work-study and took classes at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center for the next five years. After dancing in New York, Jackson moved back to Cincinnati to raise her newborn and to continue teaching dance. Currently she splits her time between teaching dance at Contemporary Dance Theater and her Alma Mater, Wyoming High School.
