Specializing in teaching kids ages 5-10 how to move healthfully and creatively with confidence in modern techniques.Two Cincinnati modern dance non-profits, MamLuft&Co. Dance and Contemporary Dance Theater have teamed up to provide a summer dance camp for kids on August 5-9, 2013 (with an open house on Saturday, August 10, 2013).
A fun and enriching week completely focused on dance, your 5-to-10-year-old will have fun, gain confidence, and of course, learn about movement.
It’s the only dance camp we’ve found that actually keeps children the entire workday AND that includes modern dance!

What is the camp’s focus?
The creative, empowering, expressive, active, and healthy practices of modern dance.
What makes this camp unique?
According to our research, the MamLuft&Co. Dance and Contemporary Dance Theater Dance Camp for Kids is the ONLY CAMP in Cincinnati that focuses on dance (modern dance, at that!) that provides child care and activities for the entire work day (8am to 6pm)!
What is the goal of the camp?
To teach children how to move healthfully and creatively with modern dance technique.
What ages will the camp include?
Ages 5 to 10.
What is modern dance?
Historically, modern dance developed as a concert dance form in the early 1900s and became a recognizable form by the 1950s, with such differences from ballet as inverted verticality, freer use of the body, and a strong relationship with the ground.
What will the kids do?
Modern dance technique class & related activities
Children will move fully and creatively to world music while developing skills in balance, strength, flexibility, and musicality. Related activities will include re-inforcement of technique in non-movement exercises.
Modern dance and creative dance-making
Children will express themselves and develop creative capacity while building individual agency and teamwork problem-solving skills!
Ballet dance class & activities
Children will be taught the older tradition of classical ballet, a foundation for modern dance, developing skills in ballet vocabulary, balance, strength, flexibility, and posture. Related activities will include re-inforcement of technique in non-movement exercises.
Yoga stretching for kids
Safe flexibility exercises designed for little ones!
Large Group with special activities such as playing in the water spray park behind the Hall, tumbling, arts and crafts.
Lunch time (parents should send lunches with children)
Outdoor play
And preparation for the open house showing for parents!
After and before care includes movie time, coloring, arts and crafts, and outdoor play.
Fees
Camp registration includes two daily snacks and a camp t-shirt*!
(Parents should pack a lunch and a re-usable water bottle wide enough to accept ice cubes, both labeled.)
*Late registrants will not be able to receive a t-shirt.

Payment
You may choose to pay in full at any time before the corresponding deadlines above, but a $50 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of sending in your registration form.

SCHOLARSHIPS & VOLUNTEERS
MamLuft&Co. Dance and Contemporary Dance Theater are committed to providing a large number of scholarships (partial and full) based on financial need.
There are three scholarship types:
The Full Need-Based Scholarship and Partial Need-Based Scholarship are for families who qualify based on their income and family size. Partial Need-Based Scholarships are for 75% of the cost; parents will owe $65 per child.
The Parent Volunteer Almost-Full Scholarship is available for parents who can volunteer for about 5 hours each day, Monday through Friday, either 7:45am to 1:00pm or 12:45pm to 6:15pm. Parents will owe only $25 per child.
We highly recommend you apply as soon as possible for the limited spots. If we do not receive the full application by July 15, 2013, we cannot order a t-shirt for your child.

REFUND POLICY
REFUNDS CANNOT BE ISSUED AFTER JULY 15, 2013.
To request a refund, you must submit a request in writing to dance@mamluftcodance.org or PO Box 112110, Cincinnati, OH 45211 to be received no later than 5:00pm on July 15, 2013.
The $50 deposit is not refundable.
