Not only is Contemporary Dance Theater offering Dunham Dance Technique classes and workshops this summer, but we are offering a special workshop just for children! Don't miss this wonderful opportunity for your children to learn the dance technique of Katherine Dunham, an historical figure in modern dance who was inspired by African and Caribbean traditions. The children's Dunham class is an addition to our continuing series of Wiggle, Giggle, Imagine and Introduction to Dance for children and pre-teens.
Dunham Dance Technique (ages 8-12) will be for 7 weeks only this summer, Thursdays from June 10 - July 22. Sign up by June 2nd for a discounted price! $55 by June 2nd, $60 thereafter.
Wiggle Giggle Imagine (ages 3-5) Wednesdays 5:00 - 5:45, $28 per 4-week session.
Introduction to Dance I (ages 6-9) Wednesdays 6:00 - 7:00, $35 per 4-week session.
Introduction to Dance II (ages 10-13) Wednesdays 7:00 - 8:15; $40 per 4-week session

Teacher Biographies
Jeanne Speier (Dunham Dance Technique, Adults and children)
Jeanne was a student of Miss Katherine Dunham in East St. Louis at her performing arts training center and she performed with her student company throughout the Midwest. She was selected to perform at Carnegie Hall with three generations of Dunham companies when Miss Dunham received the Albert Schweitzer humanitarian award in 1979. Jeanne is a certified teacher and member of the Dunham certification board. She has taught this technique at the Wyoming Fine Arts Center, The New School and at the Katherine Dunham Seminars in East St. Louis.
Allison Jacobs (Wiggle Giggle Imagine, Introduction to Dance I & II)
Alli has been dancing and teaching in greater Cincinnati and New York City for the past twenty years. She has worked with Tanze Performing Arts Studio, Hamilton Ballet Theater, Miami Valley Ballet Theater, Contemporary Dance Theater, The School for the Creative and Performing Arts, Ballet Tech, and The Fresh Air Fund. Alli is currently teaching children’s dance classes at the Contemporary Dance Theater and Cincinnati Waldorf School. In addition to teaching dance Alli is working towards her undergraduate degrees in psychology and sociology at Northern Kentucky University.
