Being offered Spring Quarter

Spring – 10-week session
  • Mar 20 – May 27
  • All evening kids classes require pre-registration (no drop-ins).  Deadline for registration with payment is Thursday, March 16, but please register early.  Contact us if you miss a deadline, as a class may be cancelled if minimum registration is not met by March 16.  If we are accepting students after the deadline, there will be a $10 late fee added.
  • Observation dates will be the last week of Spring Quarter
  • Make-up classes that CDT cancels (due to instructor illness, vacation, etc) will be the week of May 30 – June 3

Kids Dance Classes Spring 2017 Registration Information

When are registrations due?

Class registrations, along with payments, are due no later than Thursday, March 16, but please register no later than Monday, March 13 – thank you!

  • If minimum registrations are not met by the deadline, March 16, classes will be cancelled.
  • If you miss a deadline, contact us as we may still be accepting students.  An additional late fee of $10 will apply
What does it cost?

$90 cash/check or $94 credit card for a 10-week session for all evening classes.

Special pricing for Toddler Time class ONLY: 
5-class card $35 cash/check, $37 credit card
OR $10 drop-in
(contact CDT first before attending)

NO REFUNDS for missed classes.
Toddler Time class cards are good for any 5 classes in Spring Quarter and are non-transferable and non-refundable.
No pro-rated prices for beginning after first class of session.

(Please note:  Hip Hop for Kids & Zumba Kids, Jr. are currently not offered for Spring 2017 quarter, but we are hoping they will be back soon!)

Kids Dance Schedule

MONDAYS

Toddler Time with Allison Jacobs, 10:30-11:00am, Ages 2-3 (Studio B) – CANCELLED for Spring Quarter

Introduce your toddler to the fun and creative world of dance.  Children will explore movement with dance stories, games, and moving with various props including maracas, bean bags, and scarves.  While your little one is dancing you can enjoy complimentary coffee and a light snack.  Feel free to observe your child’s dance class or mingle with other caregivers.  Caregivers are invited in to join their children for the last 10 minutes of class; in this time everyone will have an opportunity to dance together and listen to a short story.

Ballet for Kids with Glenda Figueiredo, Mondays 5:30-6:15pm, Ages 8-12 (Studio A)

This Ballet class is open to girls and boys ages 8-12 with little or no Ballet class experience.  Barre and center exercises will be taught and practiced, as student learn proper technique and ballet vocabulary.  Musicality, stretching and muscle strengthening will be emphasized.

 
WEDNESDAYS

Introduction to Ballet & Modern with Allison Jacobs, 6:15-7:00pm, Ages 5-8 (Studio B)

This class will introduce your child to the fundamentals of Ballet and Modern. Emphasis will be on developing proper technique, improving strength and flexibility, and increasing dance vocabulary. Students will have an opportunity to utilize their imagination and creativity through various dance games and activities. No previous experience is necessary. Tights, leotards and ballet slippers are encouraged, but not required.  This class will be an introductory class for the “Ballet for Kids” and “Modern for Kids” classes for ages 8-12.

THURSDAYS
   

Modern for Kids with Glenda Figueiredo, Thursdays 6:15-7:00pm, Ages 8-12 (Studio A)

If your child is interested in learning Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical or Jazz, this would be the place to start to learn the fundamentals. Basics of Modern dance will be covered including standing and floor warm-ups, across the floor, and center combinations.  All levels of experience in dance are welcome to join.

Shake and Create with Allison Jacobs, Thursdays 6:15-7:00 pm, Ages 3-5 (Studio B)

In this class, your child will be introduced to creative movement and dance. Your child will have an opportunity to jump, shake, spin and wiggle, while using their imagination!


Teachers’ Biographies

Introduction to Ballet & Modern, Shake and Create & Toddler Time — ALLISON JACOBS has been dancing and teaching in greater Cincinnati and New York City for the past twenty years. Her dance training is primarily focused on Ballet and Modern. Allison is also well versed in Tap, Jazz, Hip-hop, Musical Theater, Swing, and Contact Improvisation. Her dance teaching experience has been at Tanze Performing Arts Studio, Hamilton Ballet Theater, Miami Valley Ballet Theater, Long Island University, Contemporary Dance Theater, Ballet Tech, and Fresh Air Fund. Most recently, Allison has taught dance for Contemporary Dance Theater, Cincinnati Waldorf School, Cincinnati Public Schools, MamLuft&Co. Dance, as well as for the University of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Public Libraries.  In addition to teaching dance, Allison is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Psychology and minors in dance, honors, sociology, and art history. and has a Master of Library Science degree from Kent State University.  Currently she works for the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. Modern for Kids and Ballet for Kids – GLENDA FIGUEIREDO began her training when she was three years old in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her dance background is Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Traditional Brazilian dances and Contemporary dance, the last being her true passion. She has been dancing and teaching professionally for over 12 years. She has performed throughout Brazil, as well as in Argentina and Chile with a dance company from Rio de Janeiro.  She has been part of countless dance events (television shows and dance competitions) in Brazil with brilliant outcomes. In the US, Glenda was a dancer for Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey circus for 5 years, where she also had her aerial training and performed over 400 shows a year. After spending  time on the road, she went back to Brazil and got a degree in Education (Portuguese and English), but she was never far from dance. Together with her love and dedication for performing she has also managed to keep up a passion for teaching. Her goal as an instructor is to give her best to the students and bring out the best of them. Always intense, during her classes she looks for extra sources of creativity and energy. She is a kind woman and passionate artist ready to dance and live life to the fullest.  Glenda also teaches Modern Jazz Fusion and Ballet for adult & teens.
