PTA Artist: Elissa Yancey with LaMonica Sherman & The Winton Terrace Sister Circle

The Sister Circle from Brick City

Elissa Yancey, MSEd, currently serves as director of media and communications for the Office of the Provost at the University of Cincinnati. She has been a teacher and public communicator for more than 20 years, and her work has been featured as part of “In My Shoes,” a multi-media performance art piece mounted by Stacy Sims and chosen to be part of Cincinnati’s Fringe Festival in 2010. She is also co-founder of WordPlay Cincy, where she has assisted with the stage performance of “Enter Stage Write” by Aiken High School teens. She also has partners in the local theater community (Requiem Project, UC faculty) with whom she collaborated with to put this performance piece together.

LaMonica Sherman is the director of St. Vincent De Paul’s operations in Winton Terrace. She is a seasoned pastor, praise dancer and public speaker. She also leads the group of dedicated women who committed to this performance.

Performance Description:

Title – I am From. . . Winton Terrace

This is a poem penned by George Ella Lyon, is a collaborative performance written and performed by members of the Winton Terrace’s Sister Circle, a group of community women who meet regularly to learn, share and grow through one another.
