Ivy Pea, BlackButterfly – Choreographer & Dancer

Ivy Pea, BlackButterfly, Founder of NGOMA, LLC., is a Dancer, Choreographer, Instructor, Poet, Musician, Educator & Mother; with only a few words to describe a creation of elegance – Ivy Pea, BlackButterfly. Ivy began her journey into the arts, in Cincinnati, Ohio, as an instrumental music major at The School for Creative & Performing Arts (SCPA). She became a fluent Flautist while playing with SCPA’s Big Jazz Band and the Symphonic Winds Ensemble. As an adolescent, Ivy discovered her wings with the Afrikan-American Drum & Dance Ensemble. It was there that she established a foundation in dance: African dance. With performance and travel opportunities, Ivy studied and trained diligently under Master instructors. Over the years, she continued to augment her craft, creating authentic influential dance techniques. She has been featured in programs at the University of Cincinnati, Mount Saint Joseph University, and the Union Terminal Museum Center. She recently accepted the role as Lead Instructor and Choreographer for the Afrikan-American Drum & Dance Ensemble. She currently teaches West African Dance at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center. While active in her community, Ivy is seeking to cultivate positive self-esteem to youth through the art of dance.
